The National Food Institute
The National Food Institute conducts research and gives advice on nutrition, food safety, environment and health. Our work involves the entire food chain within five primary disciplines: nutrition, chemistry, toxicology, microbiology and epidemiology. We carry out scientifically based risk assessments, give advice to Danish and international authorities and industry, monitor food consumption patterns and the national food safety situation, and provide diagnostic and analytical services. The National Food Institute is the national reference laboratory for chemical and microbial food safety and also serves as an international reference laboratory for the EU, WHO (World Health Organization) and EFSA (European Food Safety Authority) in a number of areas.
